Quickstart Information

Updated 20-26-08 Please READ!

This is a quick guide to help in programming your radio for use with the WMPORN D-Star repeater. This guide does not cover how to program an individual radio but only some examples of how to program the four callsign fields for use with the WMPORN repeater.

In all cases the MyCall in your radio should be set to your callsign. It seems there are a couple of things that I have to make clear at this point. First of all these examples use the callsign that was assigned to me, don't be an idiot, replace N8WKM in the examples with your own callsign. Second, the MyCall spot should be set to your callsign and ONLY your callsign. This is not packet radio and we don't use an SSID, set your callsign and only your callsign into the MyCall position. I can't make this any clearer.

Please take note, all callsigns for RPT1, RPT2 and YourCall (UrCall on the Icom 2200h) is eight letters/numbers long and only eight. No matter what, the routing information MUST go in the last position. If you don't understand this, quickstart is not for you, seek the longer versions of the documentation on Icom's website or your user manual.

Due to the number of users that connect to the WX8GRR repeater using the DV-Dongle, we are suggesting immediately that all radio users change the settings in their radios to use the gateway at all times. This way when someone connects using a DV-Dongle they will be able to hear you. This will change the way that you set your radio.
